The Stainless Steel Rat

The Stainless Steel Rat - Harry Harrison A 1961 "Astounding Magazine" fix-up that feels like its been mercilessly asset-stripped over the years. Bags of charm though. The planet-hopping, battleship-tracking Rat at one point decamps to a country retreat with a disbarred Doctor for some surgical alteration, takes a personality altering cocktail of drugs, and ends up in the middle of a palace overthrow. Little bit of CGI, charismatic lead (Nathan Fillion, natch), good direction, you'd get two or three seasons out of it. Hustle In Space. Liked the sleight hand mention of Inskipp followed by his reveal, and as for Angelina taking to crime to fund her plastic surgery...these days for "crime" read "reality TV". I'll be interested to see what the Rat gets up to next.
